hustle, bustle and culture
The old towns in South Tyrol have always borne witness to ancient trade routes between North and South. Filled with history and stories they also lure with wonderful shops and boutiques, museums and cafés to lose track of time…
Sterzing/Vipiteno can be easily reached in a few minutes from Ratschings by car and surely is worth a visit. The town history still characterizes the town's scape with historic buildings and churches.
Meran, the palm-fringed spa town on the Passer, where the legendary Austrian empress Sissi loved to stay, and Brixen, the bishop’s seat at the foot of famous vineyards, are also within easy reach and highly recommended. Meran with a distinctive mediterranean flair is still known for its thermal baths - an ideal choice for one or the other wellness day in between. Like the neighbouring capital Bozen, Brixen is well known for its arcades and above all for its venerable cathedral with a unique cloister (how do you paint an elephant, an animal that you have never seen before?).
